Dan has won 20 national and international prizes including a national Patient Safety award and been named as one of the top Ophthalmologists in the world on two occasions. He was awarded the title “Professor of Ophthalmology” (Honorary Visiting Professor) by City St George’s University of London in 2025. This was in recognition of his excellence in clinical care, research and teaching.
Dan has published more than 40 scientific papers across major journals and is regularly an invited speaker at conferences and congresses across the UK, Europe, Asia and The Americas.
Having performed over 10,000 cataract procedures and 10,000 laser procedures with consistent “excellent” 5 star feedback, he can truly claim to be amongst the best cataract surgeons and glaucoma surgeons in the world.
Dan started Ophthalmic training in 2004 and has worked at many prestigious eye units in the UK including Moorfields Eye Hospital. He has held Consultant posts at King’s College, London and Royal Surrey, Guildford. For 7 years he was Training Programme Director and Head of School for NHS England and Health Education England, being responsible for Ophthalmic training across Kent, Surrey and Sussex.
He formed Farnham Eye Care in 2015 to create a small clinic focussed on providing exemplary patient experience and excellence in outcomes.
