About
Pieter Gouws is an independent consultant ophthalmologist working at the Sussex Premier Hospital in East Sussex. He completed two fellowships, specializing in Glaucoma (Toronto, Canada) and Medical Retina (Bristol, England). He has published extensively in peer-reviewed journals, presented at national and international events, and completed numerous clinical and laboratory research projects in Ophthalmology.
Pieter Gouws also has a keen interest in teaching and holds qualifications in career counselling and medical education. His current interests lie in cataract surgery combined with minimally invasive glaucoma surgery (MIGS) and multifocal lens implants.
Pieter offers tailored multifocal lens options to provide freedom from spectacles. He has performed over 25000 cataract procedures.
Pieter helped to establish the Andean Medical Mission in 2011 aimed at treating and preventing blindness in the Bolivian Amazon and goes on regular trips to work in this highly impoverished community.
