Vision Scotland Edinburgh is on the West side of the city, conveniently positioned with easy access to the M8 and M9. The facility is state-of-the-art and purpose-built, as is our equipment. Ventilation and clean air systems make this an incredibly safe facility to undergo cataract surgery and any other procedure you may need.
Patient comfort is central to the clinic’s design. There’s fresh coffee, cool drinks and light healthy snacks available to patients as well as peaceful recovery areas. Our Edinburgh south clinic is at Shawfair Park. As with Edinburgh West, we offer advanced diagnosis and treatments, general consultations and check-ups. The hospital is ideally situated for those living in the central belt but is also easily accessible from Edinburgh, Fife, Stirlingshire and the Scottish Borders.

Originally from Edinburgh, Jonathan is a leading specialist in refractive cataract surgery and laser eye surgery. As the only eye surgeon in Scotland capable of carrying out pioneering lens surgery for patients with advanced macular degeneration (1 of only 4 in the whole of the UK), he is one of Scotland’s busiest surgeons. With more than 10,000 eye operations under his belt, patients can be sure they are in safe, experienced hands.
Following his training in London, Liverpool and Glasgow, Jonathan went on to work as a consultant in New Zealand before founding Laser Vision Scotland in 2010. A few years later in 2014, he formed a new partnership with Sanjay Mantry, and today heads up Vision Scotland, offering a wider range of treatments across our 4 pioneering clinics.
Jonathan is also an active member of the European Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons and European Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons.
