Mr Allon Barsam

Allon Barsam is a director and founding partner of OCL Vision. From 2010 he specialised exclusively in laser eye surgery, lens-based vision correction surgery, cataract surgery with premium lenses and corneal surgery.

He has an international reputation for combining state of the art technology with superb, microsurgical skills. Mr Barsam recognises that each patient deserves both precision and personalisation for their vision. He has a passion and proven track record providing enhanced vision for many people whose livelihoods and wellbeing depend on sight.

His laser eye surgery patients include naval aviators (top gun pilots), commercial pilots, elite professional athletes in major sports and high-profile members of the entertainment industry. In addition, he has treated hundreds of doctors, optometrists, consultant eye surgeons and members of their families including several other laser eye surgeons from across the world. Mr Barsam was trained in several international centres of excellence.

He graduated in 2002 from the University of Cambridge and University College London Medical Schools with honours and a distinction in surgery. His residency training was at Moorfields Eye Hospital in London, followed by a fellowship in New York, where he worked closely with two of the founding fathers of modern cornea, cataract and laser vision correction surgery.

He then completed an additional cornea, cataract and refractive surgery fellowship at the Western Eye Hospital in London. Mr Barsam was the lead Consultant and fellowship director for corneal transplantation and complex anterior segment surgery at the L&D University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, UCL Partners.

This tertiary centre of excellence was founded and set up by him in 2012, for which he received several excellence awards.

With a career marked by innovation and excellence, she has consistently delivered outstanding results for her patients. Her journey in medicine began at the prestigious University College London Medical School, where she graduated with Distinction.

During her time there, she displayed exceptional skill and dedication, earning a Certificate of Merit in Ophthalmology. Following her undergraduate training, Ms Laginaf completed a medical elective in cornea and refractive surgery, further honing her expertise.

She then undertook postgraduate medical and surgical training at the Royal Free Hospital in London. Her specialized ophthalmic surgical training was conducted in the highly regarded Kent, Surrey, and Sussex Rotation, providing her with a broad and comprehensive skill set. Ms Laginaf’s commitment to excellence led her to complete two and a half years of advanced subspecialist fellowship training in cornea and cataract surgery.

Her dedication to advancing her field is evident in her role as the first OCL Vision-trained fellow of refractive surgery, a testament to her skill and leadership. Her meticulous approach combines the latest clinical evidence with cutting-edge technology, ensuring the best possible outcomes for her patients.

Mr Emil Kurniawan

Mr Emil Kurniawan is an award-winning consultant ophthalmologist with a distinguished career spanning Australia and the UK. After graduating from the University of Melbourne in 2009, where he was the sole recipient of a prestigious scholarship to study abroad at the University of Oslo, Mr Kurniawan completed his foundation years at the Royal Melbourne Hospital.

His ophthalmology training at the renowned Royal Victorian Eye and Ear Hospital provided him with comprehensive experience across all subspecialties, earning him the Cedric Cohen Medal for excellence in examinations by the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Ophthalmologists (RANZCO).

Further specialising in cornea, cataract, and refractive surgery, Mr Kurniawan deepened his expertise during a fellowship at Moorfields Eye Hospital in London, where he worked with some of the world’s leading specialists.

Mr Mark Wilkins

Mr Mark Wilkins is a consultant ophthalmic surgeon specialising in laser eye surgery, lens-based vision correction surgery, cataract and corneal transplant surgery including the super-specialised Boston keratoprosthesis (KPRO) procedure. He is also a Director of OCL Vision. He is the former head of the corneal service at Moorfields Eye Hospital NHS trust and an honorary lecturer at University College London, having been a consultant since 2006.

Mr Romesh Angunawela

Mr Romesh Angunawela is a Consultant Ophthalmic Surgeon specialising in cataract and laser eye surgery, lens replacement and corneal transplantation at Moorfields Eye Hospital where he is also Director of corneal training. He is a Director and Co-Founder of OCL Vision.

Mr Angunawela initially specialised in neurosurgery before choosing to exclusively specialise in ophthalmic surgery. He completed his clinical training at St Thomas’ Hospital and Moorfields Eye Hospital following which he completed two and a half years of specialist fellowship training in cornea and lens surgery at Moorfields Eye Hospital and the Singapore National Eye Centre.

He holds the Certificate in Laser Refractive Surgery (Cert LRS), Fellowship of the Royal College of Ophthalmologists, and is also a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh. He has won numerous international awards including the National Patient Safety Award.
