About
Mr Husam Elghalhud is a Consultant Ophthalmic Surgeon with over two decades of experience in the field. With over 30,000 cataract surgeries, Husam specialises in Cataract surgery, including simple and complex cases and implanting lenses (both standard and premium). He practiced at the Pennine Acute Trust where he is Retina and Theatre Lead, and supervises trainee surgeons and (currently an Examiner at the royal college for senior trainees final exams).
Husam qualified as a doctor in 1998, after which he completed a subspeciality fellowship in Cataract and Anterior segment, at the Queen Victoria Hospital Sussex. He also undertook his specialist training in London and Kent, which gave him a wider knowledge regarding eye issues such as dry eyes, floaters and Blepharitis. Mr Elghalhud went on to improve and develop the trusts he works at, by improving cataract complication rates, and bringing innovative treatments such as inravitreal injections for macular degenerations and Argon retina laser. He also offers a glaucoma service, as well as Refractive surgery Lasik, PRK, lens exchange for Presbyopia and ICL lenses.
