About
George was born in Athens, Greece, and grew up on a beautiful and remote Greek island called Kythera. He studied medicine in the English-speaking Medical University of Constanta, Romania. After serving in the Army for a year and a half, he went on to become a registrar in ophthalmology, in Bucharest, Romania.
In the UK, he has worked in the NHS since 2009 as an ophthalmologist in various clinical and managerial roles, including that of Clinical Lead, Clinical Governance Lead and Clinical Audit Lead. His love for cataract surgery has, over the years, taken over and George joined SpaMedica as a high-volume cataract surgeon.
He currently performs around 3,500 cataract surgeries per year. His PCR complication rate is around 0.2%, compared to the national rate of 1.1%.
