About the eye clinic

Newmedica Leeds clinic operates from Chapeltown Road and provides services for both NHS and private patients. The clinic provides cataract surgery, eyelid and tear duct surgery, and the assessment of glaucoma, and ocular hypertension. YAG laser treatment is also available, a special treatment used to improve vision after cataract surgery.

The clinic prides itself on short waiting times and aims to give clients a first appointment within two weeks from referral. They also offer a private service for cataract and eyelid surgeries, offering flexible appointment times, reduced waiting lists and a choice of lens options to meet your individual lifestyle needs.

About

Mr Aldrin Khan has been a consultant ophthalmologist since 2010, initially serving communities in County Durham before moving to Bradford. He is a highly experienced cataract surgeon, regularly performing over 800 cataract procedures annually, including complex cases. He also holds fellowship training in glaucoma, as well as cornea and refractive surgery.

Originally from Trinidad and Tobago, Mr Khan obtained his medical and surgical degrees from The University of the West Indies. He migrated to the UK at the turn of the millennium to pursue a career in ophthalmology.

His postgraduate training was conducted within the North Thames, South Thames, and Yorkshire and Humber Deaneries. During this period, he gained extensive experience at St James’ University Hospital. He also conducted clinical and laboratory research at King’s College London, further solidifying his expertise.

Mr Khan has a keen interest in teaching and has lectured on various subjects to third-year medical students at University College London and the Royal Free Hospital. He is currently the College Tutor at Bradford Royal Infirmary, where he continues to mentor and guide young ophthalmologists, helping them achieve their career aspirations.
